Photo Assignment 6: Animals

For this photo assignment I took pictures of my dog, Rider. I chose to do animals this week because he just had surgery and I figured it would be much easier to take photos of him when he was more mellow. I also took the photos outside, because he loves the outdoors.

Puns

For this assignment, we had to use photoshop to edit photos and make them into new ones that represented a pun. We used photos from online for the most part and were able to create humorous photos that represented the puns we chose to portray.

In this assignment I learned more about photoshop and its many capabilities. As you can see, i merged different photos together using the various tools that photoshop has to offer. The main tool I used in this assignment was the magic brush tool. I was able to select certain parts of images and cut them out and bring them into new images.

Photo Assignment 4

Assignment Description: This week, I decided to take pictures of our pumpkins that we carved. It is almost halloween so I thought the pumpkins would be a cool photo to take for Event. I made the photograph more interesting by incorporating a cozy fire in the background.

In this assignment I learned a little more about exposure and lighting because I was taking photos in a dark room with candlelight. I experimented with different settings on my camera but actually liked auto the best when taking these photos.

Portrait

For this assignment we were required to take photos in a photo studio and using natural light. For the ones in the photo studio, we had to adjust our shutter speed and aperture so that we could get a halo effect around the subjects head. For the natural light photos, we used a white card to reflect the light onto the side of the persons face that was away from the light. This helped reduce the shadow in the picture.

In this assignment I learned how to use some of the lighting equipment in a studio. I also learned how to reduce the shadows on the opposite side of a persons face when taking a light photo. I had a little bit of difficulty trying to find a window that would let in just enough light but in the end it worked out okay.

School Edits

Assignment Title: School Edits

Assignment Description: For this assignment we had to first take a picture in the school. Then we had to edit the photo and make it into a completely new photo using Photoshop.

During this assignment I learned a lot more about Photoshop. I now know how to take images and edit them to fit into other images. I also learned a little more about changing the brightness and contrast of photos. As you can see in the photo I used a few different tools in order to achieve the shadow of the devil's face. This assignment was fun to do and was very helpful in terms of using Photoshop.

Car Retouch

Assignment Description: For this assignment we had to take an unedited photo and use photoshop to change and edit it. We had an example photo to go off of. We attempted to make the unedited photo look like the example photo.

Photo Inspiration 2

This week for my photo assignment I will take photos in black and white. Personally I really like the look of black and white photos. The black and white brings a much different affect than a colored photograph. It also changes the mood of the photo.

Pop Art

Assignment Title: Pop Art

Assignment Description: For this assignment we had to take a photo of ourselves and use photoshop to edit the photo. We had to edit and change many things in the photo. The end result was supposed to look like pop art.

I learned a lot about using photoshop with this assignment. I now know how to use some of the basic tools, such as the crop tool. I also know how to change the saturation of the photo. This assignment was a little difficult because I am not very good at using computers so it got a little bit confusing. I think I have a better understanding of how to edit my photos now that I have completed this assignment.

Composition Assignment 2

Assignment Title: Composition Assignment 2

Assignment Description: For this assignment we had to take 5 photos that showed perspective, framing, balance, colors, and space.

Photo Descriptions:
Perspective=Staircase
Framing=Elevator
Balance=Light fixtures
Colors=Ribbon
Space:Person

With this assignment I learned that taking photos from different perspectives can greatly influence your final product and affect the way your audience sees the photo. I also learned that colors affect the "mood" of your photograph. Finally, I learned that balancing your photo's and not making them too busy is a key element to taking a great picture.

Photo Inspiration

For this Best Photo assignment I am going to be taking photographs of food. I would like to do food this week because I will have the perfect opportunity to get some good shots at the party before and after homecoming.

Shutter and Aperture

Assignment Title: Shutter and Aperture

Assignment Description: For this assignment we had to take 8 photos that used shutter speed and aperture. We had to use different shutter speeds and different f stops in order to compose our photos.

Photo Description:
Aperture=Exit sign
Shutter Speed=Drinking fountain

I learned that shutter speed and aperture are very important to a photo's exposure. I also learned that aperture is the size of the opening in your camera when you take a picture. It is measured in f-stops which either doubles or halves the opening in the lens of your camera. I learned that shutter speed is what makes it possible to get good action shots such as an athlete playing a sport or a car going by.

Photo Descriptions:
Flowers=depth of field
Highschool commons=lines
Tree bark=texture
